Professor Young and Master Machado

Professor Young, our Head Instructor, has trained since 1994 under award-winning Grand Master Carlos Machado, who to this day still retains a close friendship. You can rest assured that, not only are you getting very close to the source of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Mansfield, but you are also receiving a high level of instruction!

We pride ourselves on teaching high quality jiu-jitsu. As you now know, Grand Master Carlos Machado is a nephew of Carlos Gracie (one of the founders of Brazilian jiu-jitsu), so that means you are getting as close to the source as possible!

Grand Master Carlos Machado has trained under some of the great legends of the Gracie family like the late Carlson Gracie and the late Rolls Gracie.

In this day and age, Mixed Martial Arts in Mansfield as a sport has become more and more popular in this area. With the rising popularity of MMA, the demand for Brazilian jiu-jitsu schools has risen tremendously.

How does MMA affect the growth of Brazilian jiu-jitsu?

  • MMA fighters must learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu in order to develop the skills necessary to effectively address the inevitable clinch and/or take down.
  • When you see a fighter assume the mount position, guard, or use a submission, then you know they have some form of jiu-jitsu training!
